Baptism & Membership at King's Church Chessington

At King’s Church, we link church membership to baptism because it connects individuals to our church family, marking an important step in their faith and uniting us in our shared beliefs and mission.

Ready to take a step?

Baptism is a public declaration of a personal faith in Jesus and a commitment to follow him. It involves being immersed in water, symbolising a new beginning and a time of celebration, that you’ve been welcomed into God’s family! Ready to get baptised / become a Member of King's Church? We’d love to hear from you here.

Baptism & Membership FAQs

These are some of the common questions about baptism at King's Church.

When a person comes to understand the gospel personally and becomes a follower of Jesus, the Bible says they should be baptised (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism itself does not make someone a Christian. It’s an outward expression of the inner work that God has done in them, when they trusted in Jesus as their Saviour.
If you’ve heard the good news of Jesus and want to follow him; repented (turned away) from your old life without God and trusted in Jesus as your Saviour, it’s time to get baptised!
Our baptism services are guest friendly so you can invite your friends and family to celebrate with you. Alongside the baptism itself, they’ll be singing, a short explanation of what baptism is, and one of our pastors will share a message from the bible for about 30 minutes.

There will be multiple people being baptised during the service and we tend to ask a few of them to come up on stage and share a bit about their journey to faith. There’s no pressure to do this, but it’s really encouraging to hear!

Two of our pastors will be in the water to baptise you and we’ll make sure you have your towel to hand and a place to change into dry clothes. Baptism services are a special occasion and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
If you’d like to make King's Church your home, we run a Membership course across 4 Sunday evenings, where we can get to know you and hear more about your story of faith as we share more of God's story through the life of King's Church. If you’d like to come to the next course, get in touch.
When God calls us to himself, he also calls us to one another. We believe every Christian should belong to a local church. A bit like signing up to any group, church membership is signing up to say King's Church is your home church.
